Unexpected Lantern and DIY CHIP Shutdowns/Loss of WiFi
I have found something useful regarding the unexpected Lantern and DIY CHIP shutdowns, and mysterious loss of WiFi connectivity.
Taking the hint from several of you, and @zoltan Zoltan's posts regarding power issues, I revised my methodology for powering my Lantern and DIY CHIP layout - -
I purchased a high quality (meaning really expensive) 3 foot fast charging micro USB cable (Belkins) and connected it to my 2 amp USB charger plugged into a long AC extension cord. My previous setup used a 10 foot USB cord/charger plugged into a nearby AC outlet.
In any case, previously with the long cord, I never found any measurable voltage issues with the CHIP inside the Lantern - - so perhaps it was a current issue. Powering directly to the CHIP (bypassing the micro -USB plug) always worked fine, but again that's not a standard way to operate the Lantern.
Any thoughts out there? Ken
